Join us in Planning Fairtrade Fortnight Activities

We are holding a series of regional member events to offer you the exciting opportunity to come together with Shared Interest members and ambassadors from your local community, to learn more about how you can make a global impact in the fair trade movement by becoming involved in the work of Shared Interest within your local area.

These events will begin at 12.30 with an informal buffet lunch and will be followed by a talk on the current state of fair trade by a prominent guest speaker from the movement.  After this, you will learn more about Shared Interest and our recent activity, in a presentation which will be delivered by one of our Supporter Relations Officers.  Time has been allotted to allow for a Q&A session following each presentation.

You will also be given the opportunity to meet with Shared Interest members and ambassadors in your local area and work together in a fun and informal brainstorming activity which will revolve around opportunities which you can partake in individually or as part of a group in next year’s Fairtrade Fortnight ( 22nd February – 7th March).

The following dates and venues have been booked:

24th October – The Royal York Hotel, York.   Guest speaker Jeremy Piercy, founder of Shared Earth and author of “Coffins, Cats and Fair Trade Sex Toys

31st October – Shared Interest Head Office Newcastle.  Guest speaker Andy Redfern, MD and founder of ethicalsuperstore.com.

7th November – University of Central Lancashire, Preston.  Guest Speaker to be confirmed.

14th November – The Friends House, Euston, London.  Guest speaker Atif Choudhury, MD Zaytoun.

Experience has shown that such events are enjoyable, informative and often an inspirational call to action for all who attend.  With that in mind I would ask you to invite friends, colleagues, neighbours and members of your community to accompany you and to meet with us during the afternoon.

If you would like to attend any of these events please email me confirmation of your and any guests attendance  along with any special dietary requirements you may have.  You will then receive directions to your chosen venue and an itinerary for the event by email.
