Shared Interest Team Building Day
The Shared Interest staff team took some time out from the office last Friday to take part in a team building day at Longhirst Hall nearby in Morpeth.
Local training provider ‘New Tricks’ set the agenda for the day which included activities to test the staff’s team working skills and abilities and discussion sessions designed to get staff thinking about what makes an effective team.
We were very lucky to get some good weather (considering it was September) and so we were able to use the beautiful gardens of Longhirst Hall to complete an activity which involved rolling a tennis ball from point A to point D passing through points B and C using only bamboo sticks and cut in half drain pipes. Not only did we have to build the structure which would transport the ball from start to finish but we had to guess exactly how long it would take the ball to roll. I’m sure these photos will help you understand just what was involved.
In the morning we also took part in ‘the bigger picture’ which involved small teams of staff recreating a small section of a painting and putting it together to create one big picture. We think the New Tricks facilitator was pretty impressed with our efforts and so we brought the finished painting back to the office to be proudly displayed as a symbol of our effective team work. You may not agree when you see this photo but we are still proud of it.
We hope that staff enjoyed the day and will bring back to the office some of the key elements of effective team working so we can continue to provide an excellent service to our members and customers.
