Foundation Update

Andrea Wilkinson, Foundation manager is off to Swaziland and South Africa to deliver training to craft producers. Throughout the 14 day trip Andrea will be presenting at two, day long fair trade workshops, one hosted by Fairtrade South Africa in Cape Town and another in Johannesburg. She will also be carrying out a series of training sessions on-site at craft organisations in the region. Following this Andrea will fly to Swaziland, where the Foundation plans to launch its next long-term project (funding permitting). Swaziland has the highest rate of HIV/AIDs in the world (38%), this combined with high levels of poverty is proving extremely challenging for several Fairtrade businesses. Shared Interest Foundation will be working with partner organisation Technoserve and the Fairtrade business in order to develop a project proposal as well as piloting a two day training course in product development.
