News from the North East by Ruth Taylor

After Fairtrade Fortnight, the Supporter Relations Team has continued to raise the profile of Shared Interest across the country. In March, Sarah and I attended the National Student Volunteering Conference in Staffordshire, to meet with student volunteers and recruit for our Ambassador scheme. We hope to expand our network of volunteers by approaching more Student Unions and Universities across the country.

I also attended the regional steering group meeting for the North where it was interesting to see how Local Authorities and Partnerships in the area are working together to help promote fair trade. I hope to meet with the local steering groups again over the next couple of months to identify further ways in which Shared Interest can get join in with activities and events.

At the end of March, I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at our AGM. As part of Paul Sharpe’s Supporter Relations Team presentation, Members and Ambassadors got the chance to put pen to paper and make suggestions to us about marketing ideas. As always we are grateful for your ideas and thoughts about Shared Interest. If any of you couldn’t attend our AGM on this occasion and would like to pass on an idea, or for those of you who were there and thought of something on the way home (often the case!) I am contactable on: ruth.taylor@shared-interest.com
