Inspired by Tracy – Fairtrade Fortnight Challenges

I have been inspired by Tracy’s updates on her progress through the member challenges I thought I’d follow her example to give you an update on my own progress through the Fairtrade Fortnight tasks to tackle.

– Fairtrade photo – I hope the best of these is still to come. Come along to Trafalgar Square on Saturday at 11am to find out more!

– Sticker – now proudly displayed on my car.

– Poster Challenge – I have given these to my local Fairtrade, Ethical, Organic and Eco shop Greenways here in Leighton Buzzard.

– Fairtrade Coffee Morning – Not quite in the spirit but I’m planning one for after the fortnight to continue the conversation.

– Join the online conversation – by you reading this and me having written it that’s this one ticked.

– Fairtrade Cuisine – Not so much cooked a meal as eaten one. At an event I attended in Salisbury last weekend we were treated to a lovely Fairtrade lunch cooked by Sarah Stancliffe and using recipes from her book ‘Simple Feasts’.

– Watch a related Fairtrade Film – I watched Black Gold for the first time and then ran some activities with Rachel, our Kenyan based member of staff, at a school in Birmingham yesterday.

– Get involved with an existing F14 activity – so many to choose from, my fortnight has been spent attending events all across the country from Imperial College in London, to Brighton, to Salisbury, to Leighton Buzzard, to Birmingham and may return visits to London.

– Try something new – Hmm, a bit trickier, my partner ate my Divine Chocolate bar and said he really enjoyed it, a possible convertor. I will do my best to work on this one.

– Spread the Word – I’ve not been keeping count but see point 8 for input to this one.

– Supermarket activism – I have my eyes on the supermarket in question and will visit them tomorrow.

– School involvement – I’ve been to schools in London, Leighton Buzzard and Birmingham as well as following contacts with a number of other schools.

– Become a Shared Interest Ambassador – as an employee, and particularly with my role, I’m hoping that counts as an Ambassador.

– £14 for 14 days – I’ve just sent my cheque to Newcastle.

PHEW…….so when’s World Fairtrade Day? I should have my batteries back up and running for the 9th of May
