Fairtrade Fortnight Challenges – 2

So where were we? Two down, and two in progress ……. – you will recall I’m referring to the Fairtrade Fortnight Member Challenge list.
Yesterday was our church fair trade breakfast – it went well, although it was not as well attended as we’d have liked (so no profit that I can donate to the Foundation this time I’m afraid). We enjoyed some great food and chat and the stalls from Comfort Rwanda and Tearcraft were inspiring, with some great peace baskets and cards made from banana leaves. As well as putting some flyers on the tables at the event, Ian and I put up a display of fair trade posters (including Shared Interest ones) and had a large table full of leaflets (also including several different Shared Interest ones of course!!). We will leave the display and leaflets there throughout Fairtrade Fortnight to encourage those who didn’t make it to the breakfast to get involved some other way! Sadly we didn’t have much success with the video clips but maybe next time…!
This morning I spoke about Shared Interest during a church service in Falkirk. The member who generated this invite was heavily involved in the setting up of Shared Interest back in 1990 and it was fascinating to hear more about the origins of Shared Interest from him. The talk seemed to be well received and will hopefully generate some new individual members for Shared Interest. In fact I will be back in Falkirk twice more in the coming months as the local Churches Together group have requested speakers at their four churches in the town and then are planning an Easter Day collection to start a joint account for the group.
So with the posters, the breakfast and the Ambassador work that’s three more complete – bringing my total so far to five completed challenges. Oh and by writing this blog I surely can tick off the challenge to join the online conversation?! So six down, eight to go!
